i am trying to get my brazilian cool back but i have to say its been challenging ;)
here is an example:
attached there are some photos ...
those photos are from the back entrance to the mall where our first store is at.
it is a natural reserve and i always wanted to take pics of it...
so last sunday we went there to take care of bussinnes and i finally remembered to do it
mariana and paul were inside and i decided to take a walk
i heard before from the security guard and form the staff
that there were lots of wild animals there like anacondas, aligators etc...
but since it was day time and i just came from nyc, i thought i could take anything
oh i was wrong.
as you can see the first photo is from the door to the back entrance:
the second is a long shot of the swamp
the third is a close up of the swamp.. but wait! whats that over there?
while i was taking the last shot
a family of capybaras ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capybara )
emerges from the water. they started to bark a sound like 1000 giant dogs and swim towards me
i didnt know what it was so at first i froze: am i supposed to stop breathing and pretend to be dead or should i run?
as they got closer i ran. oh god i was never so fast in my life!!!!
as i got to the mall the security guard thought it was a robbery or sth.
i explained to him and he said calmly: oh... yes there are a lot of capybaras here!
but dont worry about them. they are nice, worry about stepping on a snake. watch you feet at all times
as if i didnt have enough to worry about it ;)
i came back inside the store and told paul and he said: hum... i bet they are delicious!!!
well ... at least it was a good story ;)
i miss you guys!!! by the time you guys make it here i will be petting the capybaras and enchanting snakes :)

The best part: arriving in Rio
The journey that lead me to come back home was long and exausting. a little over 12 years of fun, sweat, and tears in nyc.
Years of intensity, of courage (or innocence?), and of self devellopment: my 20´s.
There i made my friends, i studied every class i could afford and i met my husband.
But then... now what? NYC was not doing it for me anymore.
i started to be those bitchy newyorkers that complained about the weather, and read dwelt magazine as if it was porn. i started missing home like i never did before. i stoped trying and froze. we started to look for places in brooklyn, queens, long island... you name it.
nothing was good enough for me. it was time to go home.
when my husmand finally put his foot down and decide to move to brazil sooner than later, we entered the fase that was bitter sweet with the intensity of manhattan: saying goodby to our newyorkers friends was the hardest. i was done with the city, not with them.
the entire month was filled with dinner parties, happy hours, huggs, tears, promisses and hope. hope i would get my groove back.
My family had been worried about me and my frozen state of life for years, so they were glad that i made home still sane.
Getting here was like a dream. I know how lucky I am. so many expatriates dream about coming back home and never could...
I arrived exausted, still drunk from the night before... and very very hopefull: I am getting my brazilian cool back.
My familly was all toguether waiting for us with treats, drinks and warmth. It was probably one of the best days of my life. I felt loved, i felt safe, i felt empowered: i was changing my destiny again and this time suffering was optional.
